Another set of excellent results at Godalming College

BSHM Matths Essay prize

Dougal Houston took up the challenge and submitted an entry entitled 'the pioneers of mathematics and where would we be without them', becoming overall winner of the 2017 competition in the 16-19 category, winning £100 prize money.

Roentgenium prize for talented Chemist

July 11, 2017
Congratulations go to a very talented chemist who has been awarded the Roentgenium by Cambridge University. Lower sixth student, Julian James took part in the annual Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, competing against 7,000 students nationally and was placed in the top 0.78%.

ClassAction Summer Season 2017

A CLASS ACT: Godalming College should celebrate its success in training new practitioners for an industry that is worth £8.8 million an hour to the UK economy (Sajid Javid). Thirteen of our practitioners have now gained places at some of the top dance and drama schools in the country including: East 15, Oxford School of Drama, PPA, MTA, Mountview, Performers, Birds and Italia Conti.

Showcase of The Arts

On Monday 3rd July Godalming College hosted a showcase event of students’ work, which included displays from subjects such as Art, Textiles, Photography, Graphic Design, Product Design, Drama, Dance, Media, Music, Film, Digital Creative Technology and History of Art. Parents and VIPs were invited to the College for a preview evening and enjoyed a glass of wine and Barbecue in the piazza.

A Night of Celebration at Godalming College

Godalming College was very proud to welcome back alumni Sam Jackson as the guest speaker for their Let’s Celebrate event on Thursday evening where awards were presented to the best students on each course for either their outstanding achievement or for effort and determination, others won memorial prizes or awards for their contribution to the college or wider community.

Music in the Park

Young musicians at Godalming College were very privileged to have opened this year’s Music in the Park concert series organised by the GO Godalming Association. The concert raised money for the Dan Eley foundation, a charity that the college and Music department particularly have strong links to.

St John's Regional Cadet of the Year

Anneliese Jay, an A Level student at Godalming College, has been named as St John Ambulance Regional Cadet of the Year (London and South). She took the title at a two-day contest, which saw the best of the first aid charity’s young volunteers from across the country take part in a variety of tough tasks.

Vocalist Eyra becomes Rotary Club's Young Musician of the Year

April 07, 2017
Godalming student Eyra was initially sponsored by the local Rotary Club who put her forward as their representative vocalist for Young Musician of the Year. Eyra won the district finals at St. Catherine's which took her to the regional finals where she took first place and will now be competing at the National finals at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in early May.

Oxford Debating Finals

April 07, 2017
Students Michaela Holmes and Scarlett Close took part in the Oxford Schools Debating final. Both acquitted themselves very well, finishing in the top 70% of speakers. They were facing off against some stiff competition from some of the top schools in the country and took part in four very high quality debates, including whether or not the paying of ransoms should be illegal and whether foreign companies should be allowed to own major industries in the UK.
