BAFTA’s Best Newcomer
Games Sound Designer Jessica Saunders has been selected for one of this year’s BAFTA Breakthrough Brits. The award identifies, supports and celebrates the most promising newcomers across film, television and games, providing her with one-to-one mentoring, guidance sessions and networking opportunities plus 12 months free access to BAFTA events.
Eighteen talented newcomers were selected by a panel of leading figures in the industry including actors Natalie Dormer and James Norton, Producer Simon Chinn and games writer and narrative designer Rhianna Pratchett.
Jessica studied Music Technology, English Literature and Art at Godalming College and went on to Bath Spa University to study Creative Music Technology, graduating in 2010. She was lucky to walk straight into a job at Codemasters and then to Lionhead Studios in Guildford. She then found contract work with Rocksteady Studios in London. Her credits include Fable heroes, Kinect Sports Rivals and one of this year’s fastest selling games, Batman: Arkham Knight.
She says of BAFTA’s recognition “I am terrified, humbled and excited”
