At the heart of ClassAction's work is developing a wrap around training programme for developing practitioners, and to that end ClassAction have moved beyond the college walls to embrace Year 9 drama practitioners from our feeder schools. ACTING UP 2015 is ClassAction's training day of workshops and seminars that grabs Year 9 practitioners before they chose their options in the hope that we can fight against the view that there is a two tier subject system - and show that drama and theatre are an essential part of any key stage four curriculumn. Supporting the Waverley Federation our ACTING UP Day welcomes 100 Year 9 and Year 12 students and mixes them into a day of workshops, seminars and question and answer sessions.
The day involved all these young practitioners working together exploring; Mime, Mask Work, Voice Work, Devising and Physical Theatre – followed at the end of the day by question and answer session with ex-Godalming ClassAction alumni who offered industry inside knowledge, and tips and advice. Amongest this panel was Matthew Harvey who is currently appearing in Les Miserables in the West End, Natalie Bryant currently appearing in panto in Woking and Sam Thomas studying at Mountview Drama School and Natasha Fury who studied at East 15 Drama School.
