21 students took part in this summer’s True Adventure expedition to Borneo. After a few days acclimatising to the tropical climate they trekked through the jungle for 4 days learning bush craft skills, foraging for food and sleeping in hammocks. The project phase was particularly rewarding with students working with a local primary school for the local community in a remote area of Sabah. At the end of the project the team were rewarded with a cultural event in the village long house with traditional food and celebrations. The R&R phase involved visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, seeing the Gomantong Cave and a 2 day Kinabatangan river safari. All this before the final phase of scuba diving where nearly all the students successfully achieved their PADI Open Water certification or higher!
Overall a life changing experience! Thank you to parents and staff who helped with their fundraising efforts (eating cake/drinking coffee at parents evenings throughtout the year!)
