A dynamic explosion of modern moves and re-invented classics come to Godalming College this month, when sixth-form members of the ClassAction Dance Company perform alongside local school groups in, IGNITION: A Night at the Movies which premières on Wednesday 22nd February.

Inspired by Oscar’s month, this big screen adventure will take audiences through many of their favourite movies in an electric evening of dance. The performance captures the imagination and excitement generated by a month of hard work and workshops organised by ClassAction Dance Company that has seen original choreography devised for pupils at Broadwater, Glebelands, Woolmer Hill, Busbridge, Losely Fields and St. Edmund’s School.

StopGap Youth Dance Company, from Farnham is amongst other groups, also invited to perform during the evening. The proceeds will go to CHASE Children’s Hospice.

Jess Blackett, the College’s dance leader, say, “As a performance for young people, by young people, IGNITION is a fantastic opportunity for sharing knowledge, skills and the experience of performing, creating and working together. The way that the young people involved have taken ownership of the event is inspirational and shows their commitment and dedication to the collaboration.”

ClassAction Dance Company is the performance company at Godalming College, featuring students as performers, stage managers, technicians, choreographers, musicians, administrations, producers and front of house staff. The performance of IGNITION: A Night at the Movies starts at 7pm in the Performing Arts Centre, tickets from £x and are on sale now from the Box Office, 01483 411269.
