Current Parents
During the time your son/daughter is at Godalming we support and encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning and will keep parents informed on how they are progressing. You will also receive news about important dates in the College year as well as updates on our current and future plans.
Reviewing student progress and reporting to parents
A student’s progress is monitored within subject areas and by their personal tutor. Reports are sent home twice a year and we invite both students and their parents to come into the College to discuss how things are going three times during a two-year course and twice during a one-year course.
Progression into the Upper Sixth
We are frequently asked if students are guaranteed a place for their second year of A level study. The answer is that in order to progress to the A2 part of their course students must achieve the recommended minimum of a grade D in at least two of their AS subjects; students on BTEC courses must have passed all of required units during the first year. Any student who does not meet this recommendation should contact the College following results day to make an appointment to see their Senior Tutor. This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the options available and to try to find a way foward that is best for the student.

Important Dates
It is a student’s responsibility to be aware of deadlines for coursework, UCAS applications, EMA returns, exam re-sits, payment of college visits etc. Relevant information will be given to them by their subject and/or personal tutor, Godalming Online (the College intranet) and Moodle our Virtual learning Environment. Godalming Online and Moodle can be accessed from wherever a student has internet access. Dates for parents’ evenings, exam results, term start and end etc. are posted on our Important Dates » page.
Discipline
At College we give students the opportunity to express themselves and to develop as individuals within a supportive environment. Disciplinary procedures will be followed if any of the four fundamental obligations of the Student Contract are not complied with. In the first instance the case will be dealt with by the subject tutor and/or personal tutor; if there is no improvement in the situation disciplinary steps will begin and parents will be informed.
