Temporary Teacher of Literacy Skills

1 to 3 days a week / Flexible days and hours

The College is eager to appoint a temporary Teacher of Literacy Skills to deliver a Literacy Support Programme.

The Literacy Support programme is a 12 week programme in the Autumn Term for students with grade 4 English Language, to help support their Core Studies.  Students will partake in weekly 45 minute sessions following a Scheme of Work.  The nature of the programme and the timetabling mean that we are open to applicants who require flexibility in hours to fit around existing commitments as both the days of the week and hours in the day are negotiable.

We are looking for a qualified teacher with a degree in English or related subject who with up to date subject knowledge is passionate about their subject and willing to teach English at GCSE level.

We offer a positive and welcoming working environment.  Our recent Ofsted inspection noted:

‘Leaders support staff very well. They take the well-being and workload of their staff into account when determining new processes and policies.  Staff benefit from extensive investment in professional development opportunities, which helps them develop both their subject and classroom skills.  Staff are highly positive about working at the College.’

Salary is according to the Sixth Form College Teachers’ pay spine, currently up to £43,241 pro rata per year including fringe allowance.  The hourly rate, dependent on experience, is £31.24 - £44.35.
