Sport Coaching BTEC National (equivalent to one A Level)

This course offers a broad study of the sport sector. The qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate courses.

This is a two year course, equivalent to one A level. You will study three mandatory units: Careers in Sport, Health, Wellbeing and Sport and Developing Coaching Skills in Sport. The opportunity to complete the Level 2 Sports Leaders Award will also be provided in the second year of the course. This qualification is particularly appropriate for a career in sports coaching or higher education study of sports coaching and teaching.

Grade 4 in GCSE Maths, English Language and a Science, plus and interest in sport.

This BTEC National is widely accepted and accredited by the vast majority of universities as an excellent foundation for degree. The aim of this course is to give the student an opportunity to investigate the breadth of the industry, so that they are able to make informed choices regarding future employment opportunities such as: provision of individual / group sports activities, health promotion, coaching/instructing of specialist groups and community development. The course is also very suitable for progression to Higher Education courses in sports development, management and coaching, but also actively supports a variety of subject combinations.
