Careers News

Nearly 600 of our current U6th students have so far applied to university this year, with 100 ex-students putting in UCAS applications following a period of time working or travelling. Many of our Art students are busy preparing their portfolios for interviews for Art Foundation courses whilst some of our drama and music students are rehearsing hard in preparation for auditions.

For students who are looking at alternatives to university we have had some interesting presentations from employers. CGI came into college to talk about their sponsored degrees in Business and IT and IBM ran an interactive session to help students prepare for job assessment days.

We were delighted to welcome back HSBC in January who in previous years have recruited our students as apprentices to work in Global Market Operations in London. Our students were interested to hear from one of our ex- students as he talked about his experience of working for HSBC in their offices in Canary Wharf and their New York office.

All our lower sixth students have attended Careers talks in the hall to introduce them to the careers resources and support available in college to help them explore the progression routes after college. Many students attended the introduction to our Aim High Programme in January and the subsequent talks by Oxford University and St Andrews.  Our trip to the Oxbridge Student Conference in March is already fully booked.
