With our student centred focus, Safeguarding and Wellbeing is at the heart of all that we do. We know that students who feel supported will grow in confidence and be able to achieve their aims.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, but we have a dedicated group of people who form the core Safeguarding Team, working together with parents, schools and external agencies. They are:
Carol Horlock, Assistant Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Amy Johnson – Senior Tutor and Deputy DSL
Ceilidh Botfield – Senior Tutor and Deputy DSL
Jennifer Hunter-Phillips – Senior Tutor and Deputy DSL
Neil Winstone – Senior Tutor and Deputy DSL
Nick Levy – Learning Support Manager and Deputy DSL
Holly Parkes – Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and Deputy DSL
Our Health and Wellbeing Coordinator is a trained nurse, coordinating things such as first aid, mental health first aid, counselling and access to the Bursary Fund. She works closely with staff and students to help us all keep learning.
Counselling is provided on site, 5 days a week by the Valley Trust Counselling service. With over 30 years of experience in supporting children and young people in schools and colleges, the service is focused on providing a safe place for students to express their fears and worries and develop strategies to help the cope and continue with their learning.
