Andrew Elderfield (IT, Games and Web Dev BTEC)

Case Study

I’m really glad that I picked IT, Games and Web Development, as it is such an interesting subject with a lot of variety. I originally took it due to my interest in the video games unit, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. Many parts of the work allow for creativity and that is a part of the subject that I have enjoyed the most, as it allows for me to give projects a personal touch. Many of the units are based around video games so I have had a lot of fun thinking of ideas and being able to work on them in lessons. This subject has fitted well with the rest of my studies due to it being worth 2 A levels, allowing for enough time to get most work done within lessons. Some units require more out of lesson work than others, but not enough to interfere with any other subjects, which is great for those doing more independent subjects.

If you want a career in the gaming industry, or in any IT field, this subject is a great step towards that goal. This subject has really helped me become more creative and even helped my confidence during a presentation unit.
