Meet the Senior Leadership Team

As specialists in sixth form education, we pride ourselves on the wide range of course choices we offer, both academic and vocational. This enables us to provide you with an individualised Study Programme to suit your needs, abilities and interests. As well as achieving qualifications, the College provides you with the opportunity to get involved in an extensive range of enrichment activities. The campus and specialist facilities to support your learning are first class. We are also proud that we are rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Emma Young, Principal

Emma has worked with the 16-19 age group and in Sixth Form Colleges for her entire teaching career.  She started as a newly qualified Geography teacher at The Sixth Form College Farnborough. During her 11 years at Farnborough she had a number of roles including being a Personal Tutor, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, led the College Enrichment programme and was Oxbridge Co-ordinator.  She became Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Staff Development at Esher College in 2005 and was then internally promoted to Deputy Principal in 2010.  Emma was appointed as Principal of Godalming in August 2016.  Emma works closely with the Sixth Form College Association and is the current chair of the Association.

Olly Stevens, Deputy Principal

Olly is Godalming through and through, having attended the College as a student.  Olly completed his teacher training at Godalming and was subsequently appointed as a teacher of Economics in 2004.  He was then appointed to the Upper Management Team as a Senior Tutor in 2008.  He has also been a Head of Department, before he was appointed as Director of Faculty for Arts and Sciences in 2014.  Olly was then appointed Deputy Principal, Curriculum and Quality in 2019 – he is responsible for the quality of teaching and learning at the College.

Matt Simpson

Matt joined Godalming in January 2024 as Assistant Principal Safeguarding and Support.  His working career has been almost exclusively within the sixth form sector having previously worked for Collyer’s College and Christ the King Sixth Form in a variety of curriculum and pastoral roles. He has overall responsibility for student support and has a wide range of experience in developing student engagement. Matt is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the College and leads the Safeguarding Team.

Sarah Baudains, Assistant Principal 

Sarah was appointed in 2019 as Assistant Principal Finance and Resources.  Sarah is a qualified accountant and has extensive experience in the financial sector having previously worked for Deloitte. Sarah also has experience of working in the public sector, having worked for Sport England before being appointed to her current post at Godalming College. Sarah is the College’s Chief Financial Officer and has responsibility for the production of the College’s financial statements, budgets and forecasts.  She also has overarching responsibility for the College Estate, including the catering service, in conjunction with the Director of Estates.
