From 24th to 27th November, a group of students studying for their Ancient History A Level attended a residential trip to Athens. This offered a fantastic opportunity for them to see a range of incredible sites which not only feature in their studies, but are actually used as sources for them to refer to as evidence in their essay writing, including the Parthenon and the Ancient Agora. They also visited some world-class museums and the beautiful and picturesque precinct of Delphi, home of the Oracle.
Having the opportunity to see these sites first-hand will definitely help to contextualise their learning and make the events that they have been learning about feel more real. They also had time to explore the city of Athens, experience its culture and taste its delicious range of foods (including the gyros and the ice-creams).
Even faced with early starts, miles of walking, and the occasional delayed bus and plane, everyone attending the trip seemed to have a great time and they have hopefully created some memories which will last a lifetime!
