Film Buddy and Lyla Foreman collaborate on music video

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Director Lee Barnes from Film Buddy to Godalming College. He spent a full day shooting a music video starring one of our Music A Level students, Lyla Foreman, to showcase and promote her original song ‘Uh Oh’. To watch the video, click here.

Film Buddy offers bespoke services, bridging the gap between education and employment in the Film, TV, and Creative Media industries. As part of our partnership with them, all of our students are given the opportunity to be paired with a mentor that will help them tailor a CV, apply for job opportunities and give them guidance on how to create a professional network.

The College Director of Transition and Progression, Adam Duce, entered into the partnership with Film Buddy, with a view to supporting students into the TV and film industries if that is their passion. As well as offering mentoring sessions, setting up opportunities such as this music video shoot can be invaluable experiences for young people intending to pursue a career in music or film.

Lyla’s music video shoot at the College was the first of its kind with Film Buddy, and we look forward to working with them again in the future. Lee Barnes was a great inspiration to the students and he was keen to convey how much he enjoyed his day with us, working with some very talented aspiring film makers:

“The students came up with some amazing ideas that I worked towards and I felt supported throughout the day. At Film Buddy, we thrive to give young adults a real on-set experience. I hope the students got a lot from it.”

Students and staff who were involved on the day had a fantastic time and enjoyed the experience of getting involved in such a creative production. Our star of the day, Lyla, said:

“The entire day was a dream! We worked with Lee to create a music video for my song 'Uh Oh'. From story board to shoot, I enjoyed every second. It would be a lie to say I wasn't nervous, standing on stage and pretending to perform is very different to playing a gig to a room full of people, but after the first take, everything became very natural. For a day, I got to be a commercial artist with smoke machines, lights, and a crew, and I’m forever grateful to the Music department, Godalming College, Film Buddy UK and the amazing director Lee Barnes for the experience!”
