I study Drama and Theatre Studies at Godalming, alongside History: Democracy & Dictators, and Maths. With such a range of subjects, I had many options available to me for after college, and I have offers to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic Studies at Cambridge, and History elsewhere; no doors were closed because of my subjects.
The theory side of Drama is my personal favourite as I am an academically focused person, and I have felt supported in the written side of the course as we are well prepared over the two years but given a lot of independence to develop our own ideas. I believe that my confidence and creativity have really improved as a result of working with different people and texts during the course: we study a wide range of practitioners and plays, which is very enriching, alongside the practically assessed element of the course. These assessments begin quickly but my advice would be to throw yourself in and make the most of teachers offering one to ones and feedback at all stages - the process looks long at the start but really flies by, so making the most of these creative and more interactive sessions is important!
