+ Explore: Society Uncovered: Exploring Social Issues of Our Time

Science and Environmental

Are you curious about how the world really works?  Society Uncovered is a creative discussion-based course for students interested in sociology, politics, and current affairs — or anyone who wants to explore big issues through documentaries, podcasts, and debate.
This course invites you to look beyond the surface of the world around you. Drawing on powerful documentaries, thought-provoking podcasts, and critical debates, Society Uncovered helps you develop your sociological imagination — the ability to connect personal experiences to wider social and political forces shaping our lives.

From the stories told by Louis Theroux and Stacey Dooley to cutting-edge journalism from The Guardian and The Times, you’ll explore themes like power, inequality, identity, and social change. Using these real-world examples, we’ll question the social structures and cultural norms that influence our daily lives and the wider world. We’ll investigate themes like race and inequality, power and politics, identity and gender, social class, feminism, and social media influence.
