Emma M (History of Art A Level)

I chose to study History of Art at Godalming because I have always been interested in art and the course has been a wonderful way to deepen my knowledge. The course delves into both a technical analysis of our works and the context of all the styles and movements that we study. Aspects of the content such as Dadaism, investigate the cultural and artistic scenes of WW2 and many other topics which I have previously studied. History of Art has given me different perspectives on these events, and it’s interesting to see how they intersect.

The course has also provided me with the skills I need for critical analysis in my essays, which has been very useful with my other essay subjects. The History of Art teachers are wonderful and offer extra support and workshops to anyone who needs it, which has been extremely valuable.

I got the chance to go to Paris with the course and saw some of my favourite pieces in person at the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and my personal favourite, The Rodin Museum. This was a wonderful opportunity that really made our content tangible, as well as being very fun!

Taking History of Art inspired me to go on and study it at university, which I don’t think I would have done without the group of fantastic people running the course.
