At Godalming College I am studying Graphic Design, Art, and English Language, which all allow my creative thinking to thrive. By studying Graphic Design alongside Art, it has enabled me to use a variety of on and off-screen techniques, including being taught Adobe Photoshop and iIlustrator by the Graphic Design department’s remarkably supportive teachers. Not only are the teachers extremely passionate about their subject, but they want to aid us in creating the strongest project possible, which for me has the theme of Interior Design, which is what I will be pursuing after college. I have been able to use my theme of ‘Line in the Built Environment’ in Art, and ‘Wellness in the Workplace’ in Graphic Design to support my university applications.
Coming to Godalming College was one of the best decisions I have made, as I came from a very small secondary school where I was the only person to leave and come to Godalming, so it really pushed me out of my comfort zone to meet new people, branching out of my local area and to experiment with new creative techniques that the art department at my old school couldn’t cater for. The facilities available for all creative arts students here are the best I’d seen throughout all the colleges I’d looked at, which paired with the support from the teachers has really bought out the best designer in me.
