Lara F (Travel and Tourism BTEC Extended Certificate)

I am almost at the end of my BTEC in Travel and Tourism, and I have really enjoyed the course. It has given me a comprehensive understanding of the travel industry and how it operates on both a national and global scale. Throughout my studies, I have developed valuable practical skills, including researching, report writing, and critically analysing market data. These skills have helped me gain insight into the various sectors within the tourism industry, from hospitality and tour operations to sustainable tourism practices.

One of the most interesting aspects of the course has been learning about the global impact of tourism. I have explored how different countries use tourism to support local economies, create job opportunities, and preserve cultural heritage. Understanding the role of tourism in economic development has been eye-opening, especially in regions where it serves as a major source of income.

As a result of this course, I secured work experience with a travel agency specializing in Safari Holidays. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply my knowledge in a real-world setting, enhancing my understanding of customer service, travel planning, and itinerary creation. It has inspired me to seriously consider a career in the travel and tourism industry.
