Testing engineering skills, teamwork and creativity, the SATRO Problem-Solving Challenge is an annual event for small teams of students across different age ranges, solving the same engineering challenge.
After winning their regional heat in February, our team of Godalming Physics students travelled to the Grand Final hosted by the University of Surrey. Over 20 teams competed and were set the challenge of creating a wind powered pully system using the least amount of material possible. Teams were assessed on the eco-credentials of their design, how quickly the machine could pull a block across a table, and how well they worked together.
Our students gained top marks in every category, proving themselves worthy winners of the 2025 title. Well done!
