Godalming Colleges Annual Spring Benefit Concert

It was an evening of music, fun and fundraising! The annual Godalming College Spring Benefit Concert in aid of the Dan Eley Foundation was a great success and exceeded previous ticket sales and fundraising.

"The Dan Eley Foundation is very grateful for the kind volunteers and brilliant performances from Godalming College students" says Dan Eley, the charity's foundation. "The concert had a record-breaking audience and raised over £2,000 for disadvantaged pupils at Loseley Fields School."

The first half of the concert saw the Concert Orchestra starting the evening with a familiar tune, the theme from Star Wars, after which various solo performances, the String Ensemble and the Choir performed. The first half of the concert included classical delights from Chopin, Mendelsohnn and Shostakovich to Disney theme tunes and English Folk music. It was both impressive and entertaining.

After the interval the audience saw a different side of the participating students when the different bands came on stage and led them on a journey from Soul, to Rock, Funk, Blues and Jazz. The enjoyment of the performers infected the audience who was soon tapping their feet and nodding their heads.

A big thank you to everyone that makes this annual concert possible: the amazing students that spend many hours rehearsing, the College staff that offer help, time and support, the brilliant Dan Eley Foundation volunteers that make sure the evening runs smoothly and of course everyone that bought a ticket and helped raise this fantastic amount of money.

If you missed this year’s Spring Concert, make sure to come to the next Godalming College Music Concert at the Godalming Bandstand on Sunday 7th May 2023, from 3-5pm.
