We are proud to share that Godalming College received an award at the National Student Pride Awards this February. The event celebrates institutions that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ students and fostering inclusive, welcoming communities. Values that lie at the heart of life at Godalming College.
Inclusion at Godalming is embedded in the everyday experience of students and staff. Throughout the year, the College delivers a rich programme of events and engagement opportunities designed to celebrate diversity and elevate the student voice. Highlights in the calendar include Culture Day, which showcases the many heritages represented across the College, and the annual Pride celebrations, which bring the community together in support of LGBTQ+ visibility and equality.
Alongside these flagship events, Godalming’s ongoing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) forums provide students with regular spaces to share experiences, influence policy, and help shape the continued development of an inclusive and supportive environment. This blend of celebration, conversation and meaningful action is central to why the College has been recognised at a national level.
Matt Simpson, Assistant Principal of Safeguarding and Support reflected: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised as ‘Inclusive Further Education Provider of the Year’. This award is a testament to the remarkable resilience and spirit of our students and dedicated support of our staff. Inclusion isn’t something we just talk about here, it’s something we live every day, and this achievement reflects our College community’s commitment to ensuring every learner feels seen, supported and able to thrive.”
Thank you to every student and staff member who has contributed to building such a warm, respectful and inspiring community. This award is proof of your dedication and belief in the power of inclusivity.
