I chose the Physics A Level course because I found the GCSE course interesting and was looking for the next step in a STEM pathway. During my studies, I enjoyed the practical element of the course the most. Taking theory into the real world is fascinating and very rewarding when experimental results are as expected! The A Level course has helped me develop my problem-solving skills which proved especially useful in university entrance exams, that lots of courses require. The teachers at Godalming are enthusiastic and willing to help. My tip for future students is to take part in as many course opportunities as possible!
Godalming college has been a supportive environment that encourages a more independent style of work, the library and other study spaces have proven invaluable to my studies. They are also the second most frequently visited part of the college (bar the canteen) so are excellent spaces to meet friends.
In Upper Sixth I had the opportunity to visit CERN in Switzerland. It was an excellent trip that demonstrated the career opportunities for a STEM student. My favourite part of the trip was the guided tour of the CERN facilities hosted by active researchers at the facilities – including an ex-college student. The CERN trip was an unforgettable experience that showed how cutting-edge Physics research is.
